-
Proven machining of Monel 400 and K-500: We plan for work-hardening and gummy chip behavior to protect tolerances, threads and sealing surfaces.
-
Fewer setups, stronger relationships: 5-axis and mill-turn strategies hold true position, concentricity and coaxiality across critical features.
-
Prototype-to-production continuity: The process we validate on prototypes scales to low-volume and repeat lots with controlled documentation.
-
Inspection you can trust: CMM programs, thread gauges and dimensional reports tied to your drawing and critical features.
-
Traceability and records: Material certificates, FAI, full dimensional reports and project-specific quality files ready for audits or customer submission.
-
Schedule protection, not just "fast": Short prototype cycles enable earlier seawater or pressure testing, reduce dry-dock time and de-risk commissioning.

When to choose Monel 400 vs. Monel K-500
Monel 400
Seawater and saline environments, strong resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, good toughness from cryogenic to elevated temperatures.
Ideal for: Pump/valve bodies, fittings and corrosion-critical housings.
Monel K-500
Precipitation-hardened for higher strength and hardness while retaining corrosion resistance of 400.
Suited for: Shafts, fasteners, springs and parts requiring strength under load in seawater.
Not sure which grade to specify? We'll review your application, loads and interfaces and give practical feedback without changing your design intent.
How we machine Monel to protect your geometry and surfaces
-
Control work-hardening: Conservative surface speeds, consistent chip load, sharp tooling and rigid fixturing limit heat and hard layers.
-
Chip management and coolant: High-pressure flood coolant and optimized chip breakers prevent recutting and edge wear on tight features.
-
Tool-path strategy: Trochoidal and climb milling where appropriate to maintain finish and minimize burrs on sealing faces and threads.
-
Thread quality: Thread milling or single-point turning with verified gauges to protect flank finish and pitch diameter.
-
Deburr and finish: Structured deburring of edges, thread starts and fluid passages; ground and honed finishes where specified.
-
Inspection alignment: Datum strategies and CMM probing tied to your GD&T so measured results reflect functional relationships.
