Wire EDM Titanium
AXALLOY Precision is a Shenzhen-based precision machining partner specializing in difficult-to-machine alloys. For titanium components that need tight profiles, narrow slots, sharp internal corners, or thin-web features, our Wire EDM capability supports prototype through repeat production—backed by inspection, traceability, and documented process control.
We work best with teams that prioritize manufacturability, controlled quality documentation, and dependable communication—not simply the lowest unit price.
Why use Wire EDM for Titanium?
Titanium alloys can be challenging to machine conventionally due to tool wear, heat, and deformation risk on thin features. Wire EDM is often selected when your design requires:
- Narrow slots and fine kerfs that are difficult to mill
- Sharp internal corners and precise 2D profiles
- Thin walls / delicate webs where cutting forces must be minimized
- Stable repeatability for critical interfaces in demanding assemblies
Wire EDM is also a strong option when you need controlled feature relationships and predictable dimensional outcomes before secondary finishing operations.
Titanium Grades We Commonly Support
Grade 2
Commercially pure titanium for general corrosion resistance and formability
Grade 5
Ti-6Al-4V — the workhorse aerospace alloy with high strength-to-weight ratio
Grade 23 (ELI)
Extra-low interstitial grade for enhanced fracture toughness and biocompatibility
Other Grades
Additional titanium grades available based on project requirements
If you have a specified standard, heat condition, or material certification requirement, include it in your RFQ so we can align the process and documentation package.

- EDM-cut preforms intended for secondary CNC milling or grinding
- Prototype and low-volume high-value titanium components with documentation needs
Industries We Frequently Support
Integrated Services: EDM + CNC + Finishing
Titanium parts often require more than a single process. AXALLOY supports end-to-end routing to reduce supplier handoffs.
CNC Milling
3/4/5-axis CNC milling for complex contours and precision interfaces.
Turning & Mill-Turn
Rotational features and fewer setups with combined turning and milling operations.
Precision Grinding
Critical fits and sealing surfaces down to ±0.002 mm, Ra 0.2 μm.
Finishing Operations
Deburring, cleaning, marking, and assembly support.
Special Processes
Access to heat treatment, passivation, and coating as required by the drawing/spec.
If your project requires combining EDM profiles with milled pockets, bored holes, or datum-controlled interfaces, share the model and critical features—we'll propose a stable process plan.
Quality Control, Inspection & Documentation
For Wire EDM titanium programs, our customers commonly require export-ready quality evidence. Available support includes:
- Material traceability and material certificates (MTR / Mill Test Certificate)
- First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Ballooned drawing + dimensional reports
- Surface roughness reports (Ra 0.05–40 μm measurement range)
- CMM inspection (700 × 1,000 × 600 mm range; accuracy up to 1.8 + L/300 μm)
- In-process and final inspection
- Special process records and project-specific quality documentation (upon request)
Typical Tolerances & Design Notes
While EDM can achieve tight accuracy, final outcomes depend on geometry, thickness, and inspection strategy. To speed quoting and reduce risk, we recommend:
- Provide 2D drawing + 3D model (if available)
- Clearly identify critical datums and GD&T
- Specify surface finish targets and where they apply
- Indicate whether edges must be left as-cut, broken, or polished
- Define quantity, revision control, and target date
- List required certificates (FAI, material certs, coating/heat treat records, etc.)
If you're unsure which features should be EDM vs. milled, we can provide DFM feedback and propose the most stable routing.
